Students Quality of Life 

 

We provide individualised and group sessions designed to increase skill sets and lifelong learning opportunities focusing on the areas highlighted from the Quality of Life questionnaires.

Our students and their family’s complete questionnaires twice per year. Data from the questionnaires is then analysed to create a range of bespoke experiences within the curriculum offer. All of our students have regular Key Worker sessions and staff use information from the questionnaires to plan targeted sessions focusing on improving students QoL. Sessions are personalised to meet individual needs and aspirations, with a drive to improve health, well-being and Quality of Life.

 

 

Families

 

Family QoL is of the utmost importance to us as a foundation and as with the students, questionnaires are sent out to all parents/carers twice a year. The feedback enables us to form Family Engagement Days, where we can share knowledge and practice which ultimately improves the QoL as a family.

Families have opportunities to access different support services, facilitated by areas across the school including Psychotherapists/Occupational Health and Speech and language and Family Support teams.  Keyworkers also work alongside families to support them to improve aspects of Quality of Life at home.   

 

 

Staff Quality of Life

 

Our staff understand that they play an active role in promoting and implementing all strands of the QoL framework and that their Health and Well Being is paramount to enable them to help support our students in the best possible way. Therefore, every Friday, we provide a wide range opportunities/experiences ranging from Golf, HIIT, Book Club, Boxing, Quiz's, Bingo, Snooker and much more with the focus to improve the Health and Well Being of the staff.

 
We also have an IT curfew within the foundation, where no emails unless Safeguarding/Child Protection related should be sent between the hours of 7pm and 7am and during the weekend and holiday periods.


Our School Health team play a significant part in QoL, and our occupational health nurse focusses on staff physical and mental wellbeing.


There is targeted training for staff in school and curriculum drop down days which are focused around QoL activities. The foundation invests in using external professionals to help support the whole school community and their families in their health and well-being within the community; one of these is Gareth Potts, a personal trainer.


Recently, we have introduced a staff ‘life day’ where staff can take one paid day per year doing something that will enhance their quality of life and improve their physical and mental well-being.
